Swiss M1894 Steyr Straight Pull Cavalry Carbine

Steyr made a contract of straight pull carbines in 7.5mm for the Swiss in 1894. Some sources claim that Steyr only made the receiver/bolt and the complete gun was actully made in Switzerland. Which is factual, I am not certain.

The receiver and bolt are almost identical to the M95 Austrian action. The magazine however is not of the Mannlicher type, instead it uses a charger of paper mache with tin to load 6 cartridges which are staggered in the magazine. The carbine is stocked to the muzzle and has sling on the left side. Barrel length is 21.7 inches. Front site is protected by ears on either side.
